Playing policies
We have a no cut policy- Tryouts of any kind within Northcoast are prohibited. Each eligible child, regardless of their skill level or physical ability, will be allowed to participate in our program provided that there are roster spots for them.
There are, however, instances where participants can be “cut”
Mandatory cuts - Any participant must be cut who:
1. is found to have signed up due to parental pressure or tells team management that he/she does not really want to play.
2. refuses or cannot furnish the 4 required items for registration (parental consent, physical, report card, and birth certificate).
3. does not pay the entire balance of fees
4. is found to be simultaneously trying out for a school-affiliated tackle football team.
5. is a member of another youth football program, either within or outside of Northcoast (participation in flag football is permissible).
6. attempts to intimidate fellow participants in practice by word and/or physical deed.
7. is an extreme discipline problem (and then, only with the concurrence of the league).
Voluntary cuts- A player shall be considered a voluntary or “self-cut” participant when he/she simply no longer shows up at practices or games of his/her own free will and without being excused. In the event that a participant is cut voluntarily or for disciplinary reasons, refunds will not be given, and all issued equipment and uniforms must be returned.
Roster Sizes -No more than 25 players shall be certified onto a team roster. A team with less than 16 certifiable players will not be permitted to form and play. A team must have at least 18 eligible players certified in order to form and play. A minimum of 16 players must be dressed and eligible to play at each game. Also, if a team enters into a game with at least 16 players, they must maintain 16 players throughout the game. If at any point prior to or during the game, a team’s roster drops below 16 players, they will forfeit that game regardless of the score.
Mandatory Play Rule- The following shall be the minimum mandatory play rule (MPR) for all Northcoast teams. All MPRs should be based on eligible players at the time of the game, not the number of participant on a given roster.
