Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is the youngest a child can be to participate?
A. We take kids from grade levels K-6.

Q. Are there weight limits to participate?
A. No. Children of all weights and sizes are able to play. There is a weight limit placed on skill position players (players who carry the football, such as QB's, RB's and receivers. Lineman can be as heavy as they want).

Q. When and where are practices?
A. Practices for both football and cheer will be held at Forest Hill Park in Cleveland Heights (Lee road, due north, past Monticello). Practices for football will be held Monday through Friday (Thursdays off) from 6:00-8:00 PM. Cheerleading practices will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Q. When does the season start and end?
A. The first game is tentatively scheduled for the last weekend of August or first weekend of September. The regular season season usually ends mid October, with playoffs usually starting thereafter. There are typically 6-8 games played per regular season.

Q. Do you have to live in Cleveland Heights to play?

A. No. While our primary focus is to prepare kids in Cleveland Heights to participate in football at the high school level (AT HEIGHTS HIGH), we welcome kids from all areas as long as roster spots are open. However, Cleveland Heights residents are given first priority.

Q. When and where will home games be played?

A. We will have two home fields this year; Monticello, Wiley, and Roxboro Middle Schools. Games are played on Saturdays, with the earliest games starting at 10:30 AM.

Q. How much traveling can I expect when attending away games?
A. Typically, the majority of our away games are within reasonable driving distances. However, depending on the schedule, there could be some long drives to away games. For instance, there are teams in Painsville and other suburbs. During the playoffs, teams that advance will eventually play out of state, with the hopes of making it to the AYF (American Youth Football Conference) Super bowl in Florida.

Q. Do you take kids with no playing experience?
A. Absolutely! Our mission is to teach and instruct kids of all skill levels to become better football players. We will never turn away a child who is not a gifted athlete. This is youth sports; it’s supposed to be fun.

Q. Are there tryouts? Do you cut players?
A. We do not hold tryouts, nor do we cut kids. Everyone who registers will make the team and will play. There is nothing worse in youth sports than to tell a child that they cannot play because they are not good enough. In our system, the kids are priority 1, not winning! Furthermore, it is against North Coast Youth Football rules and regulations to cut players.

Q. How much does it cost to participate?
A. There is a one-time $75 registration fee, due July 2st .

Q. Are there payment plans if I cannot pay by the deadline?
A. Yes, we do accept payment plans. We accept 3 monthly installments of $25, with the balance due by July 2, 2010 (for football).

Q. I have 4 kids that are interested in playing or cheering. Are there discounts available for registering multiple children?
A. Yes. We offer a $10 dollar discount for every additional child after the first child is registered. For example, if you register 4 children, you save $30 off of your registration fee (you pay $270 instead of $300).

Q. Are parents required to stay at practices with their children?

A. For children 6 and under, we ask that parents stay with their children. As the season progresses and the children and parents become more comfortable with the atmospher of practice, we may relax this policy. We want the younger kids to become acclimated to organized sports, and our coaches may need the extra hands to help keep them focused and on task.
